Zune Insider posted this evening that the new Zune 1-Click Podcast Subscriber button is now available. Podcasters who install the button on their blog or podcast show notes page will be directing visitors who click to the new Zune Marketplace software. It’ll function much like the the iTunes one-click process - if you have the software installed, it will work. If not, it’ll ask you to download it.
Any time those of us involved in podcasting get a decent outlet or new community to promote our shows, there is generally much rejoicing. Of course, the running joke with those in the know is that there’s about seven or so folks who own a Zune, so it remains to be seen exactly what the eventual benefit of this new community will be.
Instructions for installing the button are relatively straight-forward, the Zune team has details on how it works in their announcement post.
The folks that Microsoft has recently brought onto the Zune team are folks that have been involved in a lot of the entrenched podcast community organizations (like Rob Greenlee), so those folks at Microsoft might actually be serious in their renewed interest in the mobile media domain.
