Games found in Skype Extras are now accessible through Facebook, as an application of course. With the Skype Games application, you’ve basically got an alternative route to your Skype client for gaming purposes. All 18 of the Skype games are available for play. You’ll need to have Skype already downloaded on your computer, and in order to participate in a game, you’ll be connected with other Skype users, not Facebook users.

Does this even count as a Facebook app? If this application was launched by Skype, I suppose this is another way to get the word out about Skype games, and encourage users to download the application. Is this a sneaky attempt at pushing some extra growth, after a rather troubled year for the VoIP company?

We’ve already seen how Joost (and all the others) can use Facebook’s existing user base for their own purposes, so perhaps this is the sole reason behind a Facebook app. But isn’t Skype’s partnership with MySpace a good way to get more users?
