A new Facebook app called Business 3.0 has set out to become a business network, advertising network and marketplace all in one. The purpose behind this application is to allow businesses access to Facebook users without having to create a Facebook application of their own.
From the end user’s standpoint, Business 3.0 operates much like a directory. You can search for businesses, read comments, and leave reviews. Search by business name, product type, or services. What’s more, businesses can sell products through this application, and advertise throughout the network.
What’s missing here is a direct appeal to actual Facebook users. This application is focused more on the promotion of businesses, when it should be focused on business and product reviews. Then the application would be better positioned for the Facebook demographic, and prove a useful search tool instead of a collection of self-promoting ads.
With businesses now looking to find swift entry into popular online networks, it’s not surprising that this application has been created, but I’m not sure this is the best way to go about enabling access to Facebook users.

Motivation Functionality Features Purpose Design Integration While the corss over between personal and business profle can sometimes be thin the purposes are totally different. I write about this at http://jayderagon.com/blog/?p=436

It launched in Beta and in less than four days over 1,200 people downloaded the app, 439 have used it to set up their business profile already. It currently contains over 60 products listed. The ap does enable users to rate the business and/or the product /service offered. The application also integrates with the users personal profile thus increasing business exposure ad distribution points for products and services. The application provides a full directory of business and products offered. In the near future it will enable "individuals to "connect" with the business and businesses to connect with each other. The application does indeed have a search tool. For a new app in beta I'd say it has performed very well. One user reports: "Wow! What a great application. It is well thought out and truly provides significant value. Since listing my company with your application the traffic to my web site has increased daily. To date we have had 25% more traffic than we had anticipated. The best part is that the traffic is relevant...our registration conversions to real leads have increased 15%.' What say you?
