Pinger, the voice messaging tool that aims to be an IM-like tool for voice, is jumping on the political bandwagon with its new Pingercasts messaging tools. This is a promotional tool for the candidates, or anyone else, to enable voice message “blasts” to all of their followers.

John Edwards has already signed on for Pingercast, which he’ll use in order to call all of those supporters that have provided him with a phone number. And anyone that would want to receive updates on Edwards using voice messages can sign up to receive them via Pingercasts. And to help you get more users signed up for your voice blasts, Pinger will also equip you with a widget that can collect phone numbers and names. This is all aggregated for you with your Pinger account.

So is this really more personable than a text message ad, or an email blast? This is obviously a marketing tool that can be used for the dissemination of information, regardless of the type of information you’re promoting. Several voice messaging tools have these “blast” options integrated with their own services, especially VoIP providers.

I think we’ll find that Pingercasts will be used in conjunction with several other promotional tools, across platforms and devices, and they’ll become equally as effective as email blasts as time goes on. For a reverse phone interaction with presidential candidates, try JottTheVote. Another message “blast” tool that will work on your Google start page is phonevite.

Mobile Users–would you consider a voice message from John Edwards, or any other person, to be spam?
