Liquid Air Lab, creator of the mobile application spodtronic, has made a small acquisition with Rocket Science, which alows for XML-based UI development on Symbian Series 60, UIQ, Windows Mobile and Linux platforms. This is offered on its Poison Framework, with a single codebase to support all of the above.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition will bring Rocket Science fully on board with Liquid Air Lab, including its employees, assets and patents. As part of the acquisition, Rocket Science will move its office to Liquid Air Lab’s base in Finland. In handling the differences in the operating systems, Rocket Science’s Poison platform allows for developing for different handsets without rewriting any code.
With the inclusion of Rocket Science into Liquid Air Lab, its technology will be applied to spodtronic, which offers a mobile music platform for delivering audio content on hand sets. In other mobile platform news, Vlingo is getting ready to release its full set of APIs for developers.
User comment: By: AngelosAjax - I think "fantastical" would be a better adjective than childish. And bizarre names should commonplace to followers of the Web 2.0 landscape...Just look at the most recent headlines on Mashable! What the hell is a Google, a Zimbra, or a Palestra? Computer companies or zoology lab...
User comment: By: AngelosI have noticed clusters of tele-communication companies outside of CA's tech centers, especially in Scandanavian/Northern European countries. Vlingo is also located outside of the tech epicenter, in Boston. Any reasoning for this dispersion? Not familiar with the difference in communications regulations between Europe and the U.S.
