Music Nation Partners with Bug Music to Find & Sign Talent - Rmail
Posted by elveston priory at 6:17 amMusic Nation’s online site for indie artists has begun a joint venture with Bug Music, an indie music publisher, for scouting songwriters and hooking them up with publishing deals under Bug Music’s label.
So Music Nation will find the talent, and Bug Music gets to make them famous. Bug Music will be handling the royalty collection for artists, getting them gigs in film, television and commercials, among other things. This is a rather direct cooperative deal between a social network and a music label.
We usually see these partnerships come every so often in the form of a contest, or the social network will have been acquired by the label and used for leveraging its user base thereafter. Perhaps the combined dedication to indie artists is helping to make this level of partnerships more conceivable. In somewhat related news, GeniusRocket has launched a network that facilitates these types of interactions within its marketplace, for the ad industry.
User comment: By: AngelosWhy connect with Music Nation/Bug for publishing when ASCAP and BMI are easily accessible to most musicians familiar with the industry? I think Music Nations partnership with Bug bolster distribution more - moving units is still the primary motivator in the music industry whether selling albums, mashups, or singles.
