With the news of Microsoft winning the Facebook bid, it may seem trite to mention this, but Facebook has some new features on the way. And they’re still worth your while.

First up, Facebook has announced its plans to translate its site into new languages. We anticipated this move for some time now, as localized sites would be beneficial for the continued growth of Facebook on a global scale. This topic of discussion was only fueled by the France domain scandal.

Facebook is also getting ready to lose the cap on messaging to groups, under 1,000 members, meaning you’ll be able to send blasts to your big groups as well. And in regular Facebook style, an upgrade to its search function will let you search by a user’s former name, in case they’ve gotten married since you last heard. Lastly, Facebook will be adding group updates to your news feeds, which surprisingly wasn’t a feature until now.

Kristen - Opening up the platform to other language clusters throughout the world will be interesting. Maybe Adam can track ascendance of lingual specific Facebook versions compared to current dominant network. Concerning the removal of messaging limits - I ceased visiting MySpace partly due to the annoying. uncontrollable bulletins. Will this feature also drive Facebook users to other platforms like Capazoo - the cool Canada company you covered yesterday.
