TwitterPoster: Useless But Cool - Rmail

twitterposter-logo.JPG

I took a look at TwitterPoster this evening again at the behest of a Mashable reader, although several people showed it to me over Twitter last night. It’s quite a nifty little utility/site that graphically represents by way of a mosaic of profile pictures the top Twitterers based on numbers of friends.

Inspired by The Million Dollar Homepage and the populars tagclouds, the service generates a mosaic with images of users who have a greater number of followers in Twitter with three different sizes based on this number. TwitterPoster is currently in beta phase and there is an international version and a few other countries versions like: Japan, Brazil, Australia, Mexico, Italia and Canada. The developer tells us that very soon China, Netherlands, Taiwan, Spain will be available too.

Something a bit more useful might be something that ranks with a list or with graphs, and something a bit more interesting to those who aren’t compulsive-frienders might alternative views based on numbers of Tweets. However, it is an interesting way to spend a few minutes, and survey who the heavy hitters are in the Twittersphere.
