SideStep is launching its airline search vertical Airport Guides, in beta. With the new Airport Guides, there will be airport-specific information about basic things we all need to know.

Parking, transportation, terminal breakdowns and their perks, airport restaurants and shopping, along with real-time flight arrivals, departure, delay and status. There will also be average security wait times, and some historical stats on flight info and on-time ratings. SideStep has teamed with FlightStats for much of this statistical information.

This is one vertical that can be very helpful if done well, and is a sensible vertical that we’re seeing slowly develop in review sites that are people-powered. One such review site is FlagXO, where users can leave their own two cents about an airport and the overall experience.

What’s different about SideStep, and useful in its own way, is that it brings in a lot of quality information that is more reliable, and immediately available across the board. You won’t have to wait for other users to review the airport in your city. In other SideStep news, the company recently gained a former Yahoo executive to its team.
