Today was the official start of the ad:tech NYC panels. From the today's opening keynotes it was clear that advertising agencies are being pressured by their clients to get involved with the "new media". There were many examples cited, but most of the campaigns noted dealt with either YouTube or MySpace. Throughout the keynotes and the "Media and Branding" track panels, there was a clear consistent clamor that advertising should be engaging, creative and most importantly real. The engaging aspect was given the simple aspect that if you place a campaign with a social network or in social media the network takes care of the engagement with users automatically. The trick is to come up with a creative enough concept to get the mass  or "viral" following.
