Amvona Launches Site-Specific Search for Photographers - SendMeRSS
Posted by elveston priory at 3:36 amAmvona began as an online resource for photo equipment retail, where users could also engage in discussions with each other about products and media. The company is now taking things a step further with the launching of a new contextual search platform called Amvona Trails, giving an integrated yet stand-alone subset to the content Amvona has collected on its site since adding social networking tools over a year ago.
With that, the search results you’ll gt for any given query will bear content only from that which has been submitted by its network of users. The way in which the content is presented, however, is very nice. The layout of each search result is aesthetically pleasing, with an affinity for the photographer and image-centric professional out there. You’ll get a few peripheral options along with it, including bookmarking tools, internal marking options, several search filters, and a 3D slide show to view the related images based on each relevant user.
There are a few downfalls to this setup, however. Only one result displays at a time, and you can’t choose which result you’d like to look at. The only way to toggle through results is by hitting the “next” or “previous” tabs. And unless you do take advantage of the bookmarking tools provided, there’s no way to organize your results in a useful manner.
In all, it’s quite similar to Xakasha, and is surely meant to offer a resource for those outside of Amvona’s network, either to provide an additional outlet for its content, or to encourage new users to join the network (or both).

And under that, you can experience the neatly integrated Amazon.com shopping interface where the user can see the selected camera/accessories for sale on Amazon.com! Clicking the item for sale brings you right to the Amazon.com page that has the item up for grabs. That comes in quite handy for a photograper like myself to be able to see how pictures come out with certain cameras along with being able to see what the current going rate for one of them is. Great work! I'll be back!
